My child welfare experience spans investigations, parent representation social work, family shelter services, and independent housing-related consultation. These perspectives inform how I approach family stability and reunification.
Housing barriers in dependency cases
Through Positive Resourceful Parenting, I consult on housing barriers in dependency and shelter care cases. My work includes reviewing housing-related efforts and referrals, writing court reports and declarations, and providing expert testimony.
I work with families and dependency stakeholders to identify barriers and connect people with relevant community housing and houseless services.
Safety, service, and reunification planning
My planning work focuses on practical supports, service access, family strengths, and collaboration. I have coordinated with parent attorneys, DCYF workers, guardians ad litem, children’s attorneys, treatment court teams, judicial officers, and community providers.
As a contracted social worker with the Office of Public Defense’s Parents Representation Program from 2019 to 2024, I supported parents’ participation in services and proceedings, advocated for their needs, and assisted with safe and stable reunification whenever possible.
Practice informed by multiple systems
My earlier experience as a CPS investigator and family shelter case manager provides context for the pressures families and service providers encounter. My teaching and field instruction have also focused on helping students understand difficult child welfare issues.
Across these settings, I bring an emphasis on trauma-informed engagement, equity, and attention to the impact of poverty and housing instability.
